Brand kits as source of truth — not vibes
If three agents and two humans each “remember” a slightly different logo blue, you do not have a brand. You have a rumor mill with good intentions.
MeltingFace Presence treats the brand system directory as the only place corporate identity is allowed to live in machine form. Agents read it. They do not invent alternate hex codes, taglines, or legal notices.
What sits in the kit
| Artifact | Role |
|---|---|
| `brand-kit.yaml` | Unified manifesto agents load first |
| `color-palette.json` | Tokens (aligned to live site gold/bronze for web) |
| `typography.yaml` | Type roles and fallbacks |
| `voice-tone.yaml` | Personality and channel tone |
| `forbidden-claims.json` | Hard-reject patterns at review |
| `legal-boilerplate.yaml` | Verbatim notices (dry-run, privacy, AI disclosure) |
| `corporate-facts.json` | Board-gated entity facts |
If it is not in the kit (or a Board-approved change), it is not brand truth.
Why this matters for AI-assisted content
Large models are excellent at plausible language. Plausible is dangerous when the sentence implies live channels, certifications, or performance outcomes you never measured.
A forbidden-claims list will not catch every mistake, but it forces a culture: specificity over swagger. “Preview-only until Board unlock” is less exciting than hype — and much easier to defend.
Live site vs product UI
Our public site at meltingface.io is a warm gold and bronze theme. The Presence SSG now tracks those tokens for the corporate website path. Older blue/purple product-UI samples are legacy unless the Board reinstates them.
Visual identity still needs licensed fonts (the live site uses commercial display faces). Until Board licenses them for the SSG, we ship system fallbacks that preserve hierarchy without claiming we embed the exact webfonts.
Practical rule for agents
- Load `brand-kit.yaml` first.
- Prefer hex and copy from kit files over training-data memory.
- If a field is Board-gated, stop and open an issue — do not “fix it in.”
- Run `validate-brand-kit.py` and site quality gates before calling content done.
Bottom line
Brand kits are not marketing wallpaper. They are control surfaces for humans supervising AI-assisted presence work.
